PIOS announces the UMAX APUS Series

PIOS Computer AG, the German PowerPC company, announces the new APUS Series by UMAX, shipping in October 1996. APUS is a full range of PowerPC 603-based computer systems, coming as desktop and minitower casings.

The CPUs will be 603e/ 120 MHz, 603ev/ 166 MHz, 603p/180 MHz, and 603p/ 200 MHz.

All configurations will have:

• 16 MB of RAM,
• 1 MB Video RAM on board,
• IDE harddisks from 850 MB up to 2.1 GB,
• 8x speed CD-ROM,
• FDD 1.44 MB,
• keyboard and mouse,
• preinstalled MacOS 7.5.3,
• 256 KB level 2 cache (only exception is the 603e/ 120 MHz),
• 3 PCI slots in desktop model APUS 2000,
• 5 PCI slots in minitower model APUS 3000.

Enduser prices will start at DM 2699 (including German MWSt.) for the 603/ 120 MHz up to DM 3999 incl. MWSt. for the 603p/ 200 MHz.

The Apus series will give the users a new price/performance ratio. In addition, from the very beginning the APUS 3000 is upgradable with different CPU cards for the clockspeeds to come in the future. Not talking about the benefit of PCI opening a wide range of add-on cards.
